Cardi B's highly-anticipated single has been hyped over the past few weeks. With the drama surrounding Hot Shit emerging as it nears its release date, fans became more curious, especially with Cardi's huge recruits - Kanye West and Lil Durk.

However, Billboard Hot 100 charts are already up - and with the huge chatter and hype Hot Shit had, the track was nowhere to be found on the Top 10.

Cardi B 'Hot Shit'

Released last July 1 via Atlantic Records, Hot Shit is Cardi B's first single in over a year.

The song was initially announced on one of the commercial gaps of the recently-concluded BET Awards 2022. The news of Cardi's new song reignited discussions on when the rapper's sophomore album will come out.

The Bronx rapper only has only provided little information about the details of her next project but noted that she's going to "stomp" it this time.

The upcoming single was even more hyped when Cardi B announced that Kanye West and Lil Durk will be featured on her comeback song. Eventually, she also released the cover art of the song - which sees her in a somewhat futuristic outfit in a vintage car.

Cardi B 'Hot Shit' Issues: It Almost Didn't Make It

Days before the actual release, Cardi spoke to Apple Music's Zane Lowe and revealed that Hot Shit was, in fact, older than her and Megan Thee Stallion's smash hit WAP.

Similarly, in a Twitter space with the Bardigang, the Invasion of Privacy hitmaker said that the track was apparently shelved for almost three years before it was released.

Continuing her revelations to Instagram Live, Cardi also opened up that she was supposed to cancel the July 1 release of the song because of issues surrounding the music video.

Apparently, her music label, Atlantic Records is keeping her from releasing the music video for Hot Shit.

"You know how I usually do the most with the promo. I just don't feel like doing too much this time around. I'm just exhausted with everybody. I'm so tired of people not doing their job correctly. I'm so tired of people doing things their way," the rapper elaborated.

Cardi B 'Hot Shit' Chart Performance

In the Billboard Hot 100 chart dated Jul. 16, 2022, Cardi B's collab with Kanye West and Lil Durk, Hot Shit, only debuted at No. 13, three spots away from the coveted Top 10.

Netizens thought the opening of the highly-anticipated single was weak, despite the huge names trailing the song.

Twitter Error

However, some think that the song's poor chart performance was attributed to the music video that was supposed to accompany it, which will only be released today, at 8:00 p.m. EST.
