Rapper-turned-politician Shyne reacts to his former boss Sean "Diddy" Combs's actions on the now-viral video of him assaulting singer Cassie Ventura.

In a statement released by the incumbent United Democratic Party leader Moses "Shyne" Barrow, he "vehemently" denounces the rapper's actions toward Ventura.

"I vehemently denounce the repugnant behavior of Sean Diddy Combs captured on the video in which he is seen physically assaulting Mrs Cassie Ventura-Fine," he wrote in a statement. "There is no place for Violence against Women anywhere on the planet. As a father of a precious daughter, a global citizen and the next Prime Minister of Belize I want absolutely nothing to do with people who engage in this pattern of diabolical behavior."

Shyne also added that his prayers are with Ventura and all the other victims who have come forward with "horrendous allegations" against Diddy.

Shyne and Diddy have a checkered history for a long time. In 1999, when Shyne was still working as a Bad Boy Records rapper under Diddy, they were both arrested in connection to a 1999 nightclub shooting in Manhattan, New York, that left three bystanders injured.

Both Shyne and Diddy were arrested in 1999 for weapons violations and other charges. Diddy was further charged with four weapons-related charges alongside bribing his driver to claim ownership of the gun that was used.

However, Diddy's lawyers aided in his triumphant win of being found not guilty on all charges, while Shyne was convicted on five of his eight charges and sentenced to ten years in prison.

In an interview with Channel 5 Belize, Shyne maintained that he was the "fall guy" in the incident.

"Everyone knew all along that I was the fall guy," Shyne told the outlet after referencing Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones' lawsuit. "But my political enemies and, you know, detractors try to make me into, you know, this criminal. But everyone knew that I was a young kid that took the fall. Everyone knew that, that was the story. I'm just saying that I maintained my innocence all this time."

Jones alleged that Combs admitted to involving his ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez in potentially illegal activities and even leveraging himself to have Shyne take the fall for the infamous nightclub shooting in exchange for a record deal with Arista Records.
