Macy Gray set the record straight about her son after her daughter filed for a restraining order.

On Wednesday, Gray's daughter Aanisah Hinds submitted her request in Los Angeles after her brother, Tracy Melvin, reportedly threatened and hit their musician mom. Tracy reportedly always harasses Gray whenever he is drunk, leading to the filing.

Macy Gray Denies the Claim

Through her representative, Gray told People that her son never hit her or caused her physical harm.

"Me and my son love each other and he would never think of causing me any physical harm," she said.
"Outside of that, like any family, we have our issues and we're dealing with it."

Aanisah's filing to the Los Angeles Superior Court, obtained by Page Six, claimed her brother got into a physical altercation with Gray on Saturday. She said he "pushed" their mom and fought her fiancé, Cornel Pearson, during the alleged incident.

Police reportedly advised her to file a restraining order due to a lack of video or evidence.

Similar incidents reportedly happened in May 2022, April 2023 and October 2023.

"We waited for the cops to come while he continued to bang on the doors of our rooms looking for confrontation. After he was out of the house, we locked the doors, but he came back through a window and began harassing again. Later he pushed me and has done so many times," she continued.

Through her request, Aanisah asked the court to grant a move-out order, no-contact order, and a stay-away order so Tracy would stay at least 100 yards away from them.

The Los Angeles County Superior Court granted the temporary restraining order and scheduled a court hearing for February 27. The upcoming court battle will determine whether the restraining order should remain active.

Gray started her career in the 1990s, but she told The Guardian in 2012 that she began singing in her early 20s.

"I went to college and sang around a bunch of musician friends because I had been taking piano lessons since I was seven, so I kind of gravitated towards musicians," she told the outlet.

She eventually released her first album, "On How Life Is," which ranked fourth on the U.S. Billboard 200. Her latest album, "Ruby," arrived in 2018.

While spending time as a musician, Gray also expanded her empire and starred in several films like "Change in the Air" and "Wicked Player."
