Taylor Swift's "The Eras" tour at the Melbourne Cricket Ground last Feb. 16 was riddled with empty seats, but in one part of the stadium, there were empty seats because a drunk fan threw up all over them.
According to reports, several fans had to wait two hours before the mess was cleaned up; the drunk fan threw up around 7 p.m. and it was not until 9 p.m. were the fans able to return to their seats.
The Melbourne show was supposed to be Swift's most successful show thus far in the "The Eras" tour, as it boasted a crowd of 96,000.
"Losing my mind at there being 96,000 people here. This is the biggest show that we've ever done," the "Cruel Summer" hitmaker told the audience.
"I'm fully starstruck by the fact so many people wanted to hang out with us on a Friday night in Melbourne!"
Taylor Swift's 'The Eras' Melbourne Show a Flop?
Despite having a reported crowd of 96,000 concertgoers, several Swifties at the concert could not help but notice that there were many empty seats in the stadium.
Several fans shared pictures from the venue, showing that several sections in the stadium were unoccupied.
James Anderson, a former Triple M radio announcer, shared the pictures on his Facebook page: "Pictures just in: Empty seats spotted for tonight's Taylor Swift concert. Ticketek are firing up the queue system shortly."
However, some concertgoers claimed that the stands were eventually filled out by the time the "Look What You Made Me Do" hitmaker began the show.
Taylor Swift 'The Eras' Tour
Despite some claiming that Swift's show in Melbourne was not as successful or as smooth-sailing as her other shows, Australian fans would not have it any other way.
"During Year 7 and 8, her music kept her alive, so we're grateful for Taylor Swift," said a fan about the singer. "If the music was on and Tayla was singing Taylor, we knew she was OK. She was a lifesaver."
"I think it's the moody tones of that record that got me through COVID," another remarked, noting their favorite album is "Evermore."
"We've been here for about an hour. We're just making a day of it. We always wanted to be early," another group of fans told SMH before the show
