ACM Award Nominees Announced: Luke Combs Leads with Eight Nominations

The Academy of Country Music has announced the nominees for its 59th award show. Luke Combs, who skyrocketed to the top of the charts with his 2023 cover of Tracy Chapman's "Fast Car," leads the pack amongst the highly competitive field.

Combs boasts eight nominations: Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Music Event of the Year. He is nominated twice within his Single of the Year and Album of the Year awards as he served as both an artist and producer on his "Fast Car" cover and his album, Gettin' Old.

Tracy Chapman, too, is nominated for "Fast Car." It is her first ACM nomination. She released the original song in 1988, 35 years before Combs's cover.

Trailing right behind Combs are Megan Moroney and Morgan Wallen, who each have six nominations. Moroney is the female artist with the most ACM award nominations this year. Her song "Tennessee Orange" received wide acclaim and was her first number one single. She is nominated for Female Artist of the Year, New Female Artist of the Year, Song of the Year, Music Event of the Year and Visual Media of the Year.

Wallen, meanwhile, is riding the momentum of previous ACM wins, but facing felony charges for a recent chair-throwing arrest in Nashville.

If Wallen clinches the Male Artist of the Year title, it will be his second year in a row doing so. Among his other nominations is the Single of the Year award for his song "Last Night." The track was a smash hit in 2023 and peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. He also scored a number one hit with his album One Thing At a Time, for which he is also nominated.

Jelly Roll, who recently swept the CMAs for the second year in a row after facing a harrowing flight incident with wife Bunnie Xo, is a first time ACM nominee with four nominations, including Entertainer of the Year. He is also nominated for Male Artist of the Year, Single of the Year and Music Event of the Year.

Combs and Lainey Wilson are also nominees for the Entertainer of the Year award. If either artist wins the title, they will be an ACM Triple Crown winner. The Triple Crown Award requires that an artist wins in the Entertainer of the Year, New Artist, and Artist categories.

Kacey Musgraves, one of the biggest faces and names in country pop, received two nominations this year. She has now received 27 nominations throughout her career. In 2018, she won awards for both Female Artist of the Year --for which she's been nominated eight times-- and Album of the Year with her record Golden Hour.

The ACM Awards will take place on May 16, 2024. See the full list of nominees below.
