Being in the limelight at such an early age has consequences, as many artists recall their tragic experiences when working as child actors/singers. Fortunately for JoJo Siwa, the musician said her mom protected her throughout childhood.

The "Karma" hitmaker recently sat down for an interview with Alex Cooper on her Call Her Daddy podcast. In it, she looked back at her career as she started out in show business at a young age.

The host gave light to the recent documentary Quiet on Set, in which former Nickelodeon child stars open up about the harrowing experiences they faced from producers.

"Just seeing child stars... there is more kids that have not had your experience," Cooper said.

Siwa answered that her experience of "bad" was not the same as that of other people; instead, hers was bullying from people around the internet.

"Compared to people with their parents, people with their creators, people with their financials, people with their bodies being around people they didn't want them to be around, I have been so lucky and I credit that to my mom," she said.

The musician then added that her mom has kept "every psychopath" out of her life. (via People magazine)

JoJo Siwa's Mom Thankful About Singer Not Leaving Them Without Money

Later in the interview, the musician revealed that her mom thanked her for not leaving them empty-handed when she turned 18, as it was the age when she could access her funds.

JoJo Siwa recalled that when she was a kid, 15 percent of every money she made went into a Coogan account to protect her funds.

"My parents thought when I turned 18, I was gonna get my Coogan account money, take all of my money and have it all be mine," she said.

The singer clarified that she had no intention of getting all the funds and spending them all for herself. She noted that there have been child stars who have done it to their parents before, but Siwa would never do it to her family.

JoJo Siwa New Era of Music

JoJo Siwa just entered her new musical era, which was completely different from her rainbows and sunshine aesthetic when she was younger.

The singer, who released her new song "Karma," spoke with Entertainment Tonight to reveal that some of her musical inspirations for her music aren't Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus, as many people believed that her song was similar to the pop singer's Reputation era.

Instead, she credited singers from older generations, such as Michael Jackson, Elton John, Prince, Lady Gaga, and David Bowie.
