Slipknot's guitarist Jim Root has revealed that the band's search for a new drummer ended swiftly after Eloy Casagrande's audition, asserting that they "didn't try anyone else." Root's statement underscores Casagrande's exceptional talent and immediate fit within the band's dynamic.
Last month, Slipknot performed for the first time with Casagrande, who will join the band in future shows.
In an interview with Tone-Talk, Root added that Casagrande contacted Slipknot and sent them a couple of videos. After much deliberation, the group thought the decision was a "no-brainer" as he respects the legacy the band has created for decades.
They also considered his respect for the late member, Joey Jordinson, as the new drummer considered him a "huge influence."
"He's so humble. The dude has so much humility. And you could tell he just lives and breathes his craft, to the point where I see his passion and it ignites my passion for my instrument," Root added.
When their promoters went to South Africa to meet Casagrande, they revealed to the band that they already had a Brazilian drummer. This meant the new member had been inducted into Slipknot's lineup, which Root considered a winning moment for them.
"He just fits in so well... I'm just glad it happened when it did. And we're lucky to have him - we are really lucky to have that dude," he added.
In the interview, Root revealed that Casagrande has yet to join the band in their creative process or songwriting sessions, but he assured them that they'll be doing it in the future.
In other updates about Slipknot, the band is set to perform at their 25th anniversary shows overseas and in North America.
