Fans have been waiting for Slipknot to release their unreleased album Look Outside Your Window for years now, and percussionist Shawn "Clown" Crahan finally explained why the band has yet to give their supporters what they want.

The musician appeared in an interview with Andy Hall's Access and was asked about the project. The album was initially scheduled to be released around 2019, but it has yet to make its way to streaming platforms.

Clown previously promised fans that they would get to listen to the body of work this year, but Slipknot hasn't announced a release date yet.

"The only reason it's not been out is because A, it's a timeliness album. It can be released 10 years ago, 10 years from now, today, and so on and so forth," he noted.

Regarding the second reason, Clown explained: "It sounds like BS but this is the truth, every time we've gotten it to a place where we were gonna pull the trigger, life has thrown the band through a circumstance of some sort."

The percussionist noted that the album is already complete, from all the songs to its cover art and production work, but he and his bandmates want to promote their releases. Unfortunately, time is their ultimate enemy, as they haven't found a proper schedule for the matter.

Regardless, fans received a ray of hope from Clown as he promised it would be released sometime this year.

"I do believe we're gonna get it out this year. I don't see it as one of these things. It's not like we're gonna go tour it. That doesn't mean we won't play some shows," he said, adding that it will eventually come out, and there's no drama regarding the project; it's just they need the right time.

"It needs its own space and not to share with anybody or anything else. So it has its due time in this reality. So that's all I can say," he assured supporters.

Look Outside Your Window was written and recorded more than a decade ago when the band was working on their other album, All Hope Is Gone. Both sessions were made in two separate studios concurrently.

Fans should expect the project's sound to be completely different from what Slipknot usually releases, as it will revolve around melodic rock.

In other updates, Slipknot will embark on their 25th anniversary tour across North America beginning in Noblesville in August. More details are available on their official website.
