While Rihanna did not grace the 2024 Met Gala with her beauty due to the flu, her childhood photos made up for her absence and showed her beauty online.

Rihanna had to miss the 2024 Met Gala event because she was sick with the flu. She initially hyped fans when she told Extra her appearance would be "real simple."

While fans missed her, childhood photos of the "Rude Boy" singer made rounds online.

On X, a user posted a thread of Rihanna's childhood photos, including her passport photo. The first image now has over 11 million views and 69,000 likes, making her trend on the social media page.

"Rihanna's success journey from discovery to fame," the caption read.

Aside from admiring Rihanna's beauty, fans also commended the "Umbrella" hitmaker's life story, which inspired others.

One said, "Beautiful thread. Rihanna's journey is really my favorite rags to riches success story."

"the definition of a self made billionaire, from nothing to everything, I'm so endlessly proud of her," a second wrote, while a third said, "Whoah, I had no idea she had it that rough. When I first heard Umbrella I figured labels were fighting over her."

Forbes estimates that her net worth as of 2024 is $1.4 billion despite not releasing a new album since the 2016 Anti.

Rihanna, however, released her song "Lift Me Up" in 2022 for the film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The track earned her an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song.

In 2023, she hinted at the release of her new album.

"I want it to be this year. Like, honestly, it'd be ridiculous if it's not this year. But I just want to have fun. I just want to make music and make videos... And I need the right background music with the visuals. I can't just go shoot a video of me talking," she said.

Her husband, A$AP Rocky, also shared a similar comment when he responded to a fan regarding Rihanna's ninth album. However, the material did not arrive at the time.

However, the long wait for fans might be finally over, as Rihanna told Extra TV in April that her album "is gonna be amazing."
