It has been three decades since Steve Perry performed a full-length concert, and at the time, he was with his band, Journey. Today, the musician has been signed under a new record label, and he hinted that he might make a big comeback on tour soon.

The singer spoke with Rolling Stone in an interview, revealing that he "absolutely misses going on tour terribly."

"I can't even tell you how much, but there's been a big soulful reclaiming of this original feeling that I had about singing that I needed to get back to. I didn't want to go out and just turn the wheel or turn the crank," he said.

The former Journey singer was able to release an album called Traces in 2018 after 22 years, and at the time, fans were waiting for him to go on a series of concerts. However, it never happened. Instead, he released a stripped-down version of the record, which had the arrangements that were supposed to be used on his tour.

Perry reflected on the tour that never happened, saying it was a "long story," and clarified that he "is up in age" and people within his age range experience "aches and pains and things like that."

The musician never named the new record label he's signed under, but he assured fans that the company has been supporting him.

"These new label people are so supportive... They said, 'We don't care what you do; we just want to do it with you,'" he said.

He also noted that he would announce the record label soon and confirmed that he's been "working on stuff."

The outlet told him that they hoped he would go on tour soon, to which he responded, "At this point, I'm also hoping... And it's my dream, too."

As of this writing, Steve Perry has not shared more information about his new album and has never confirmed if he's going on tour.

According to Distractify, the singer left his band in 1987 to pursue a solo career. He reunited with Journey in the 90s, and they initially planned to go on tour until he was diagnosed with a hip condition that would require surgery."

He wanted to try alternative treatments, and the band wanted him to decide on the surgery as they already "checked out some new singers."

Perry told his bandmates to do what they needed to do, but he didn't want to call it "Journey."

Journey has found a new singer and continued touring through the years. Although the singer reunited with his bandmates in 2017 for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, he hasn't performed with them since then.
