Apple Music has named The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill the greatest album of all time.

Lauryn Hill's first and only album has taken the top spot on the streamer's list of the top 100 albums in music history, which also included records from Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, and more.

Hill was surprised with the award at an event. An Apple Music executive presented the honor to her, which led her to be overcome with emotion.

"This is my award but it's a rich, deep narrative," the "Nothing Even Matters" rapper said. "It involves so many people and so much sacrifice and so much time and so much collective love. This is as much mine as it is yours. This is our celebration."

While the list as a whole drew mixed reactions from fans, many commended Hill for the achievement. The album's place in pop culture and how it "changed the rap culture" was celebrated after the recognition.

"Well deserved, regardless of what we think may be number one...the album is a huge staple in hip hop and inspired many other great records that we have," one fan replied.

Although some were excited for the honor, many were wondering what it meant for the future of Hill's career, including her long-awaited second album.

"Now she's for sure never going to drop another album again after adding even more pressure on top," another response read. "Well deserved."

Others commented that the position was "fraudulent" to promote her sophomore LP, claiming that "she paid for it."

"So she was already gonna get number 1 from the jump just to promote her new album that's coming out soon? How pathetic," another social media user claimed.

"This is basically paid for she's above michael... no whitney ? no drake , no wayne... beyoncé in the top 10? fraudulent just to promote her album," another critic said.

As many continue to discuss the sophomore effort, details on the next album are sparse. Find out when the new album might be dropping, along with why Hill never really returned to the music industry after her debut.

When will Lauryn Hill drop her second album?

Hill recently revealed to TMZ that "new music is on the way" and that she will be dropping her second album "soon." If it were to be released this year, it would be over 25 years after her first LP. When asked why she never dropped another record, Hill's answer was simple: No one asked her to.

"The wild thing is, no one from my label has ever called me and asked, 'How can we help you make another album?' Ever ... ever. Did I say ever? Ever," the Grammy-winner revealed to People.

With elevated attention on her music career and her label undoubtedly getting involved further into her musical output, Hill said she backed away from recording new works. As she knew her record company would want more say in her music, she felt that she needed to preserve her authenticity by keeping things to herself.

"People had included me in their own narratives of their successes as it pertained to my album and if this contradicted my experience, I was considered an enemy," she continued. "After The Miseducation, there were scores of tentacled obstructionists, politics, repressing agendas, unrealistic expectations and saboteurs everywhere."
