Miley Cyrus Desecrates Mexican Flag During Bangerz Tour Stop in Monterey, May Face Legal Issues

Miley Cyrus' wild Bangerz Tour antics aren't for everyone... like the entire country of Mexico. Following a concert in Monterey earlier this week, the "Adore You" singer may face legal charges for desecrating the Mexican flag.

According to The Huffington Post, the Mexican state legislature has asked the federal government to fine Cyrus for a stunt she pulled during her performance of the Mike Will Made It single "23." While wearing a giant fake plastic butt, Cyrus twerked on the ground, shaking her butt, while a backup dancer spanked her with a Mexican flag, presumably tossed up on stage by a fan in the audience.

And to kick up the offense level, the incident occurred on Mexican Independence Day.

Video from the performance has surfaced online. Watch the clip below, via Gossip Cop. The "23" flag incident begins at roughly 2:20.

Cyrus' shocking act broke the Mexican law, which looks to protect its national symbols, which obviously include the flag. She faces a fine of up to $1200 and 36 hours detained in the country.

The Mexican flag incident is not the first controversy to hit Cyrus' Bangerz Tour by a long shot. Earlier this month, her planned Sept. 13 concert in the Dominican Republic was cancelled abruptly, following a ban from the government.

Earlier in her tour, Cyrus also had to cancel a slew of tour dates due to a severe allergic reaction.

Despite the bumps in the road, the South American leg of Cyrus' tour is set to continue on Friday, Sept. 19, in Mexico City.
