While trends come and go, one hairstyle seemingly never goes away: the mullet.

Worn by a wide variety of musicians throughout the past decade, the cut can be described as "short in the front and long in the back," or as some have called it: "business in the front and party in the back."

The iconic look has been seen on stars like David Bowie, Morgan Wallen, Miley Cyrus, Lizzo, and more. Take a look at some of the most popular mullets in music.

Morgan Wallen

Controversial country star Morgan Wallen has sported a variety of different hair styles throughout his career, from buzz cuts to a shaggy cut. However, back in 2018, the "Wasted On You" singer was largely looked at for bringing the '80s and '90s hairstyle back in fashion, sporting it during several concert performances.

Miley Cyrus

During her Plastic Hearts rocker era, Miley Cyrus cut her hair into a mullet. It is unclear if it was intentional or an impulisve Covid lockdown move, but the "Wrecking Ball" singer fully leanred into her glam rock persona in 2020. She can be seen belting out her hits like "Prisoner" and "Midnight Sky" while donning the look.

Joan Jett

Joan Jett is largely looked at as the female musician who cemented the mullet into rock and roll fashion. The "Bad Reputation" singer became known for her black coal-colored mullet as she star began to rise, going on to influence a generation of future rockers, including Cyrus.

Mike D of the Beastie Boys

Beastie Boys are looked as the inventors of the term "mullet," mainly due to their hit 1994 song "Mullet Head." The song, which was also featured in the hit film Clueless, largely popularized the style, giving it a name that has been rememebred for decades.

Billy Ray Cyrus

Sometimes, mullets run in the family. Before his Hannah Montana star daughter rocked the style in 2020, Cyrus was known for his signature mullet earlier in his career. Many say that Cyrus is one of the best to ever sport the hairstyle, especially while performing his iconic song "Achy Breaky Heart."

Doja Cat

A little-known devotee to the mullet is Doja Cat. Always known for switching up her style, the "Paint the Town Red" songstress wore a mullet to the Grammys in 2021. Referred to as a "soft serve mullet," the singer's hair was dark brown while she walked the red carpet with the style.

Blake Shelton

Throughout the beginning of his career, Blake Shelton was frequently seen with a mullet hairstyle, even bringing it back for his 2022 "No Body" music video. However, the Voice judge eventually got tired of the haircut, telling People that "(wearing the mullet) felt completely natural to me, especially making the video in this particular bar. The air conditioning wasn't on. It was hot in there. Hair was sticking to my neck and the side of my face. And I remember thinking, 'Oh yeah, this is why I ended up cutting my mullet off.' Not because it wasn't cool anymore or trendy, just because it was physically irritating."

Lizzo

Lizzo recently shocked fans when she showed up to the 2024 Super Bowl with a red mullet. A departure from what the "Juice" singer usually seen in, she fully tapped into the rocker look as she rooted for the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers, since both of the teams wore red. The mullet stuck around for a while, also being dyed black.

Another classic devotee to the mullet is David Bowie. The "Life on Mars" hitmaker specifically donned an orange mullet while he performed as his Ziggy Stardust alter ego in the '70s.
