The BeyHive is furious on social media after learning that AMC Theatres have leaked information about Renaissance's release in 2023.
A Variety report revealed that Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour film and Beyonce's Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé were crucial in their success in 2023.
AMC Theatres CEO Adam Aron explained their decision at the time and revealed how they handled the distribution of the two concert films.
"We couldn't blow Taylor's secret," Aron explained, referring to Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour. "And those theater chains who groused to you? They grossed $100 million in ticket sales. It's not like they sold diddly."
Notably, AMC was the only chain to know of the two films' existence in advance, which seemed to anger its competitors. To soothe their competitive relationship, AMC reportedly gave its competitors a "super-secret heads-up" to be ready to put tickets on sale for Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé.
"At least half a dozen movie circuits leaked the news," Aron recalled. "Beyoncé was seriously thinking about not doing the movie at all because the secret was blown. So, they didn't keep their word."

Following this, the BeyHive saw how AMC handled both films' and learned about the unfair treatment and handling of Beyonce's concert film. Fans shared their outrage on social media.
"Presumably, AMC's CEO breached a confidentiality agreement with Beyoncé. I'm sorry but a CEO in entertainment doing that to Beyoncé deserves to be fired. You're absolutely unfit to be CEO if you can't keep confidential information about one the biggest celebs living to yourself," a user said on X, formerly Twitter.
"Thanks to the CEO of AMC we almost didn't get Beyoncé's renaissance film," another tweeted.
"Maybe I'm stupid but I don't understand why AMC did that? Aren't we in late stage capitalism? Don't you wanna get all the glory and the money to yourself? Now look at you, Beyoncé ain't gonna work with you on more," another wondered.
Beyoncé has since thanked AMC Theatres for supporting Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé in the past.
"I am so deeply thankful to AMC and every team member who worked so hard on this film," she wrote on Instagram in 2023. "I just can't thank all of you enough for your support. It was one of the hardest things I've ever done because of the short turn around time. I practically slept in the edit, color, and mix sessions. The race against time continued in order to get this film out so quickly. But it was so worth all the grind."
