Jennifer Lopez hopes she can salvage her marriage with Ben Affleck.
According to an In Touch insider, Lopez has been "telling everyone" that "they're going to get through" their problems, "but it's looking really bad."
Despite Lopez's public pronouncements and expression of her love for Affleck, the two have reportedly been experiencing marital disputes.
In Touch first reported that the couple is heading toward a divorce. Since then, numerous reports and allegations have emerged pointing to the couple's downfall.
A People magazine source revealed that Affleck and Lopez's marriage is "not in the best place" at the moment. The source alleges that the conflict seems to have stemmed from their differences in expressing their love for each other.
According to the source, Lopez "likes to open her heart to her fans and to the world." This is in stark contrast to Affleck, who is "more introspective and private." Affleck opened up about the side of his romance in Lopez's recent documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told.
"Getting back together, I said, 'Listen, one of the things I don't want is a relationship on social media,'" Affleck said in the documentary. "Then I sort of realized it's not a fair thing to ask. It's sort of like, you're gonna marry a boat captain and you go, 'Well, I don't like the water.'"
Lopez's earnest efforts to make the marriage work might be a lost cause also because Affleck has reportedly realized he did not want to marry her in the first place.
While an Affleck source recently described tying the knot to Lopez as "temporary insanity," but In Touch's source claims the Batman actor now has a "clear" head and is ready to move on.
"He feels like the last two years were just a fever dream, and he's come to his senses now and understands there is just no way this is going to work. If there was a way to divorce on grounds of temporary insanity, he would," the source shared about Affleck's point of view on his marriage.
Lopez and Affleck tied the knot in 2022, 20 years after their initial whirlwind of a romance started in the early 2000s. They broke off their first engagement in 2003, three days before their planned wedding.
Reportedly, Affleck was not "completely comfortable" sharing his vulnerability with the public, another difference between him and his wife.
"He's always been impressed about how she works so hard and has achieved so much success," another source revealed. "But the openness and promotion is not his way."
