Sean Lennon, the son of the legendary John Lennon, recently took to social media to offer his delayed critique of Prince Harry's memoir "Spare," which was released in January 2023.

In a witty remark shared via X on Wednesday, the 48-year-old musician humorously summed up his thoughts on the autobiography with just two words: "Spare Me."

While belated, Lennon's critique adds to the ongoing discourse surrounding the memoir, highlighting the diverse range of opinions elicited by Prince Harry's personal narrative.

When other social media users stepped up to defend the 39-year-old royal, Sean went harder on his negative critique. He said that he is not discreting the royal's pain, but it was simply too much.

"I do empathize with him generally. But the way he whines and wangs on about things is really too much," he wrote on Thursday. "I'm just having a little fun. I think he's earned some mockery. (I'm sure I have as well)."

In response to a fan's comment praising the bravery of writing "Spare," Lennon quipped that penning that particular anecdote about Harry's frostbitten penis "surely" required some guts.

The songwriter acknowledged some shared experiences with the Duke of Sussex, but he labeled Harry as an "idiot" and a "buffoon."

In a tweet, he expressed, "I do [empathize with him]. ... [That's] why I'm very disappointed with his outlook. I was hoping he'd be smarter."

Sean also responded to accusations that he relied solely on his father's success, highlighting his recent Oscar win this year and asserting that he's doing just fine on his own.

He brushed off a troll who dubbed him "the spare Lennon," responding with a nonchalant, "If you say so."

Harry's memoir delved into his upbringing with the late Princess Diana, his military service, and his marriage to Meghan Markle. The title of the tell-all humorously references him and Prince William as the "heir and the spare" in the royal family.

Sean is the sole child of John and Yoko Ono, born five years before the tragic death of the Beatles' member at the age of 40.

Sean Lennon has followed his father's musical path, releasing his first solo album Into the Sun in 1998, followed by Friendly Fire eight years later.

He's also been part of different bands. Last year, he won an Oscar for his short film "War Is Over! Inspired by the Music of John and Yoko," showing his talent beyond music and his dedication to honoring his parents' legacy.
