Slayer will return later this year for a few shows. However, Kerry King insists that the band is not getting back together and that fans shouldn't hope for a full-blown reunion.

The musician recently spoke with Total Guitar magazine for an interview. He reflected on his feelings after the band announced their reunion shows just days after revealing the details behind his solo project.

"It caught me off guard too. Do I wish the timing was different? Absolutely, but that's completely out of my hands," he said.

He later shared his thoughts about the hype surrounding their reunion, saying that many people think Slayer will get back together, but he clarified, " That couldn't be further from the truth."

He further explained that the band has been turning down offers to reunite since they stopped, but they accepted the upcoming shows because it marks the fifth anniversary of their final tour.

King doubled down on his initial statement, saying that fans shouldn't hope for new songs anymore, saying, "We're not going to record anymore... That final tour was definitely our final tour. This is just a reason to have some fun the guys, play a few shows and then jump back in the coffin..."

The recent news comes after he spoke with Blabbermouth, where he revealed that Slayer will never tour again, and regarding new music, the band will not record any new material.

However, he clarified that he's open to doing commemorative shows because "it's kind of fun."

Slayer's final tour happened in 2019, but they are set to appear on one-off shows later this year at Louder Than Life and Riot Fest in September and at the Aftershock Festival on October 10.

In other updates about the musician, he told Rolling Stone earlier this year that he kept in touch with some of his bandmates except frontman Tom Araya.

"Not even a text. Not even an email," he said, adding that he spoke with everybody else through phone, text, or email.

When asked if he would respond to any of Araya's messages soon, he revealed that it depended on the situation or what he needed.

King's other ventures outside Slayer include the guitarist's debut solo album, From Hell I Rise, which was released on May 17, 2024.
