Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's marital dispute is taking a toll on the former, as she has since been subjected to continuous backlash from critics.
Radar Online learned from a close friend of Lopez that she has been "somber" while navigating her relationship with Affleck, her career, and even her family life.
"She has been taking the blame for the end of the tour and the marriage, and the mockery of the world. It is all the opposite of the truth," the source shared, noting that she has been "unfairly" dragged by critics about her recent life decisions.
Lopez's friend says she "doesn't want to be divorced."
"She doesn't want to end up like Madonna - on her own at 60. She can't bear the idea of failure," the source confirmed.
The close friend also noted that Lopez has been "toning down" the way she looks and even quit her supposed world tour to try and salvage her marriage.
Sources close to Radar Online even revealed that Lopez had let Affleck smoke, a habit that the latter has since vowed to stop but seemed to be still struggling at.
"Now, Ben only smokes outside and away from Jen, and he's cut his habit way down by using nicotine gum," the sources revealed. "But he admits she hates all the gum-chewing as much as the actual smoking."
While many have suggested that the couple's marriage has already deteriorated, many of their fans still hope they can revive their love, as Affleck was seen wearing his wedding ring in public recently.
It has been reported that Lopez and Affleck have differing ways of expressing love with each other.
"They just have very different approaches when it comes to media attention. Ben hates all attention and it makes him very uncomfortable. Jennifer has always had a different approach," the insider told People.
A source said that Affleck doesn't want to share his private life much with the media, while his wife is a stark contrast.
"Even though he admires that about her, it doesn't make him happy and causes stress in his life and then in hers. There is no question their different styles clash," the source continued. "[Lopez] needs that expression but Affleck simply is not comfortable with it."
