Ben Affleck remains sober despite the recent report about his alleged return to uncontrollable drinking amid Jennifer Lopez's split buzz.
A Daily Mail report recently claimed that Affleck's friends had been worried about him after falling off the wagon. The Gone Girl actor had several rehab stays over the years and successfully maintained his sobriety.
Now, a source told In Touch it was not the case. According to the magazine, an insider informed them that Affleck is healthy and the initial report is inaccurate.
This resonated with what he told The New York Times in 2020 regarding his and his father's alcoholism.
"There's a lot of alcoholism and mental illness in my family. The legacy of that is quite powerful and sometimes hard to shake," said Affleck. "It took me a long time to fundamentally, deeply, without a hint of doubt, admit to myself that I am an alcoholic. The next drink will not be different."
The clarification ultimately dismissed the initial report about Affleck suffering "acute sadness" as the divorce buzz has continuously loomed. According to his pals, he was allegedly at risk of slipping off the wagon or had already started consuming alcohol again.
"I hear that he is drinking. He is full of demons - a really troubled person," one said, while a second source claimed, "I have seen him looking glassy eyed and it is a real worry to everyone who cares about him."
Representatives for Affleck have yet to respond to both reports.

The revelations came after other sources said divorce "is now imminent" for both Affleck and Lopez.
"I understand that he has checked out of the marriage, but she has yet to accept the truth of the situation and thinks that with therapy they might make it," the insider said. "It is made all the more difficult by the fact that we are dealing here with the emotions of the five children they have between them."
On the other hand, the pair have been seen together several times since the buzz started. They also began wearing their wedding bands again.
Still, they have not directly addressed the divorce and split talks.
