Justin Timberlake's lawyer, Edward Burke Jr., has released a statement following his client's arrest on June 18, 2024, at Sag Harbor in Long Island, New York.
"Mr Burke looks forward to vigorously defending Mr. Timberlake against these allegations. He will have a lot to say at the appropriate time. He is currently awaiting full discovery from the DA's office," the statement read, as obtained by Page Six.
Timberlake was charged with one count of driving while intoxicated and two other traffic violations, including not stopping at a stop sign and failure to stay in a proper lane of travel. The Grammy-winning singer was arrested and eventually freed without bail the morning after.
Although Timberlake maintained that he only had one martini, the complaint listed him as someone who "was unable to divide attention," having "slowed speech," "unsteady afoot, and even "performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests."
A court date for Timberlake has been set for July 26, 2024, but the outlet reported that Timberlake will not have to attend the hearing.
Meanwhile, Timberlake has been mum about the recent arrest. As of this writing, he has yet to react to the recent legal limbo.
Page Six reported additional details about the interaction of the arresting officer.
At one point, Timberlake's friends told the cops to let the *NSYNC frontman go. Notably, the arresting officer was so young that he did not recognize Timberlake at all.
"He didn't recognize him or his name," one of the insiders revealed. "Justin said under his breath, 'This is going to ruin the tour.' The cop replied, 'What tour?' Justin said, 'The world tour.'"
Meanwhile, many laughed off Timberlake's arrest on social media.
"Him and his wife have been trying so hard to rehab his image. Welp. Play stupid games win stupid prizes," a user on Reddit said, referring to Timberlake and his wife, Jessica Biel.
"I don't get it. If I had Timberlake money I would buy myself the nicest cushiest most comfortable Rolls on the planet and keep a driver on retainer. Why do celebrities insist on driving under the influence when they very easily can afford a car and driver or an Uber or a taxi or a limo etc??" a user wondered.
"He finds new ways to always be the worst, he seriously seems to find new ways to disappoint . Dude you are rich as and there is no reason for you to drive under the influence and endanger the public. Get a chauffeur or a car service maybe even an Uber. Drunk drivers are entitled selfish idiots and the punishment should be harsher, he should be grateful he didn't kill or injure himself and other people," another suggested.
