Normani revealed that she would not be performing at the 2024 BET Awards.

Hours before the 2024 BET Awards was supposed to take place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, California, Normani pulled the plug on her performance.

Taking to Instagram Stories, the former Fifth Harmony singer revealed that she is suffering from a "really bad" injury.

"I am more frustrated and disappointed than anyone believe me," Normani wrote in her post. "I wanted to get on here and give you guys an update, letting you know that while in rehearsals for BET I had a really bad accident and injured myself."

Normani says she's "normally good for powering through" under any circumstance. However, the singer's medical team has advised her not to push through with her highly-awaited performance.

"I desperately wanted to give you my best on that stage but performing would delay my healing. I have been going through my process and doing my best to make sense of my feelings regarding this. I am devastated and hate feeling like a disappointment to you but I have to focus on recovering at this time," the "Motivation" singer shared.

Normani added that she hears and sees her fans and that there is "nothing more" than wanting to perform for her waiting fans.

"Thank you so much for understanding. Sending my love to BET for giving me and all of the other beautiful black women this opportunity. This is definitely NOT how I envisioned this weekend but best believe I will be championing everyone from home tonight. I'm sorrrrrrrry guys and love you so much," Normani concluded her post.

Normani's performance was one of the expected performances at the annual BET Awards. The supposed performance was critical as this would mark her first live performance since she released her album, Dopamine.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Normani revealed what caused Dopamine's delay.

"Both my parents had gotten really, really sick, and I've had just a lot of deaths pretty much back to back in such a short time frame," she shared. It turns out Normani's mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2020. In the same year, her father learned that he had prostate cancer.

Despite the long wait, Dopamine only debuted at No. 91 on the Billboard 200 albums chart. However, critics lauded Normani for her album. Rolling Stone rated the album four stars, saying the "wait was worth it" since she started teasing it in 2018.

"All over Dopamine, Normani owns her pleasure with the pride and confidence of the star she was always destined to be," the review read.
