Since Katy Perry left American Idol after serving as one of the judges for seven seasons, fans have debated which artist should replace her. More recently, Luke Bryan named three possible pop stars who could fill in the singer's spot.

The country singer spoke with Billboard for an interview where he named three pop singers who could potentially become his co-judge on the show's next season as he listed down Pink, Miley Cyrus, and Meghan Trainor.

"I've said several names. I think Pink has been in the talks, Miley Cyrus has been in the talks, Meghan Trainor has been in the talks," he said.

However, he clarified that the process has been "interesting" as Disney has been keeping details about the replacement from him, his co-judge, Lionel Richie, and host Ryan Seacrest.

"We currently haven't heard what the story is on who's coming back, and if Lionel and I are coming back. I think Disney is just trying to figure out what they want to do and we're just kind of sitting back and waiting until they decide," he added.

He also noted that replacing Perry won't be easy because they should "really come in and do the job that Katy did."

Pink and Cyrus have yet to speak out about the possibility of them being on the show, but Trainor has previously expressed her desire to be a judge on the program, to the point that she contacted people who could help her.

In an interview with Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, the "Mother" hitmaker said she wanted to replace Perry after the pop star announced her departure from the show.

"I've done every interview in the world and said that that is my dream job and I have emailed three awesome people who work in that world... don't really have the full say but I begged," she said.

As of this writing, producers of American Idol have yet to announce the next judge. Aside from the three musicians, Jon Bon Jovi is also rumored to be in talks with production to be a judge.

Before that, Bryan commended Trainor in an interview with Entertainment Tonight, saying, "I think Meghan's always been real fun. You know, that's kinda been her brand, to have fun. [She's] real witty, so certainly."

On the other hand, Seacrest noted that the "Made You Look" hitmaker is a "super talent" and she's got a "great sense of humor."
