The grand finale of Madonna's Celebration Tour happened on May 4, 2024, at the Copacabana Beach in Rio de Janeiro. The tour honoring Madonna's forty-year musical legacy culminated with an unforgettable free concert.

According to Billboard, that night drew a crowd of 1.6 million fans.

The outstanding turnout set a new record for a standalone concert, as confirmed by Live Nation, the tour's organizing company.

According to their press release, "Copacabana Beach was turned into the world's largest dance floor as Madonna performed some of her biggest hits from her peerless music catalog."

"The Celebration Tour does not only honor Madonna's four decades of iconic music but is an homage to her unprecedented life, unique artistry and groundbreaking career."

Aerial views of the iconic Brazilian revealed an immense sea of devoted fans basking in the glow of numerous concert lights.

However, Madonna wasn't the first one to break the attendance record. In 2006, The Rolling Stones had set a record for a solo concert at the venue with 1.5 million attendees, a record that had stood until now.

New reports claim that the British band has an ambitious bid to surpass the Queen of Pop's new record.

Sources revealed to The Sun that band members Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, and Ronnie Wood are gearing up for a comeback in South America, with plans to reclaim their throne on stage.

Discussions are underway with Daniel Grinbank, the individual responsible for coordinating their performance at Copacabana, regarding a series of large-scale concerts scheduled for South America in 2025.

They told the outlet, "The Stones have a massive following in South America and there is potential for them to take their Hackney Diamonds tour there in 2025."

"The reception to the North America shows have been immense and Mick, Keith and Ronnie are still raring to go."

The insider went on to say that Grinbank has talked with them about a potential return to South America for upcoming performances and that there is anticipation that a concert at Copacabana after 19 years could potentially see The Rolling Stones reclaiming a record previously held by Madonna.

"The talks are ongoing but if anything is announced, it won't be until the band have finished up their North America run."

Rod Stewart was also another musician with record-breaking crowd of 4.2 million with his electrifying performance on December 31, 1994, according to the Guinness Book of World Records.
