Kanye West is accused of engaging in delaying tactics when it comes to an important trial.

According to legal documents obtained by In Touch Weekly, a company called Art City Center raised objections to the rapper's lawyer, Brian Brumfield, being dropped from his involvement with the musician.

Brumfield told the court, "Defendant Kanye West terminated their relationship on 6/21/2024. Defendant also will not speak to counsel and refuses to pay counsel."

However, Art City Center, which filed a lawsuit against The Gap in 2022, requested the court to deny the lawyer's motion if the case could be delayed.

As of this writing, the court has yet to grant Brumfield's request to be dropped as West's legal counsel.

Per the outlet, the Art City Center leased the famed retail company a building in Los Angeles from April 2021 to March 2022. The Gap agreed to pay $104,000 monthly rent and an additional $8,000 for parking fees. In addition, they agreed not to modify any parts of the property.

However, in the lawsuit, Art City Center said the company "completed numerous, significant, unapproved modifications." They're asking The Gap to pay $800,000 in damages, but they denied all allegations surrounding the case.

According to previous reports, the company felt West and his team were responsible for why a lawsuit was filed against them.

The Los Angeles building was the storefront for the musician's Yeezy clothing line, but they were accused of doing alterations to the building without any approval from Art City Center.

Following this, The Gap claimed their contract with the rapper called for them not to be held liable for any claims that may involve them. They later countersued West for more than $2 million.

West and The Gap started a partnership in 2020, and his Yeezy line was initially planned to be sold in their stores. However, the collaboration fell apart in 2022 when West terminated the agreement due to an alleged "noncompliance."

"The performance of the work not only breached the Strategic Agreement, but the manner of preparing for and performing the work caused the need for the repairs and restoration alleged in the complaint," The Gap said.
