Pearl Jam has officially returned to the stage after canceling a few of their shows last year. Frontman Eddie Vedder recalled the experience that he and his team had to go through, saying it was frightening.

The band performed in Barcelona over the weekend, and Vedder addressed the band's concert cancellation, saying, "It almost felt like a near-death experience."

He described the incident as "very uncomfortable, and it got frightening," adding, "It felt like chest bronchitis. It felt like maybe you couldn't breathe, and maybe you wouldn't make it through the night, and maybe you'd have to go to the hospital."

Although the singer didn't name which members of the band and the crew suffered from the medical illness, he noted that it impacted a few of them.

"You just realize how precious this life is. How lucky we are to have been living on a planet where we can go around and play to incredible people like the people in this room here tonight," he added.

Vedder noted that it was a poignant experience for all of them and something they won't forget anytime soon.

The latest update comes a few weeks after the band took to social media to announce that they had to cancel their June 2 and 3 shows in Berlin following the cancelation of their London shows in June.

They noted that the band had yet to make a "full recovery" at the time and that they never took these decisions lightly. Fans who bought tickets for their canceled shows will receive full refunds.
