Taylor Swift has broken her silence on the deadly mass stabbings at a kids' dance class in Southport, England.
The devastating knife attack reminiscent of a "horror movie" at a Taylor Swift-themed dance workshop resulted in the loss of two young lives and left six others in critical condition Monday.
"The horror of yesterday's attack in Southport is washing over me continuously and I'm just completely in shock," the 34-year-old award-winning singer-songwriter wrote in an Instagram story Monday.
Swift, who has been busy with her highly-successful "Eras Tour," added, "The loss of life and innocence, and the horrendous trauma inflicted on everyone who was there, the families, and first responders. These were just little kids at a dance class. I am at a complete loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families."
Following the deadly attack, Merseyside Police took into custody a 17-year-old male on suspicion of murder and attempted murder. His name was not disclosed.
In a statement, Chief Constable Serena Kennedy of Merseyside Police said that in addition to the tragic loss of two children, nine other kids and two adults were wounded in what she described as a "ferocious" assault.
It was later confirmed that individuals affected were transported to Alder Hey Children's Hospital, Aintree University Hospital, Southport, and Formby Hospital. Alder Hey Children's Hospital initiated a major incident protocol on Monday, urging parents to only seek emergency care for their children if necessary.
It was also reported that the teacher who organized the Swift-inspired lesson in Southport, which a knife-wielding assailant disrupted, is currently fighting for her life following injuries sustained while protecting the students.
In a display of solidarity, Swifties started rallying to raise money for the hospital and funeral expenses of the victims of the mass stabbings.
Over £59,000 (about $75,800) has already been collected for Alder Hey Children's Hospital, where fans are also planning to donate friendship bracelets for patients undergoing treatment.
The Taylor Swift U.K. & EU group on Facebook took the lead in promoting the donation drive.
"We are working with Alder Hey Children's Hospital to help raise money for the families affected by the tragedy in Southport. And raising funeral funds for the two young swifties who have tragically passed," group admins Cristina and Holly explained.
"Every donation through this link goes directly to the verified charity below, which will in turn help make a difference to those impacted in a time of great sadness," they added. "Forever and always, thank you."
