Halsey Opens Up About Fan Criticism Following 'Lucky' Release: 'I Regret Coming Back'

Halsey says she "regrets coming back" after receiving criticism from some fans over the release of her new single "Lucky" and its music video last week.

The 29-year-old singer -- who has struggled with several illnesses since the release of her most recent album in 2021 -- took to Tumblr on Tuesday to share her thoughts about her fans who have been critical of her since her music comeback.

"My own fans are hands down meaner to me than any other people on the planet. Not speaking for all of you, of course," Halsey wrote.

The Grammy-nominated singer added that it is challenging "to want to engage in a space that is completely devoid of any kindness, sympathy, patience; or to be honest human decency. Especially after years of hiding from the interactions for fear that this EXACT thing would happen."

Halsey, who recently announced her systemic lupus erythematosus and rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder diagnoses, claimed that she almost "lost [her] life."

She went on to write that she will no longer do anything that does not make her happy.

"When I got sick, all I could think about was getting better so I could come back and be a part of THIS again, but I don't even know what *this* is anymore, and I want to crawl in a hole, and I regret coming back," Halsey concluded.

In a follow-up post, the artist shared that she was writing the Tumblr entries while on her way to a PET scan and uploading the stripped version of her most recent hit, "Lucky."

"Because this is the insane irony my life has become," Halsey wrote. "I'm a person. Not a character in a music video."
