The previously unreleased Kendrick Lamar verse -- which surfaced on Reddit and X, formerly Twitter -- has people speculating about its origins and its possible impact on the song's R&B vibe. There are theories on social media that Lamar's verse might have been intended for his own project before it made its way to Ocean. So far, neither Ocean nor Lamar has responded to the leak. However, fans had mixed reactions to Lamar's verse, expressing a range of opinions.

One person wrote on Reddit, "Damn, this verse is actually fire, but I'm still glad the OG song is [without] it. 'Nights' is a 10/10 song as it is."
