It looks as if Barbra Streisand has some serious reasons to celebrate. With her latest album Partners hitting No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, the singer is officially the first ever musical act to have No. 1 albums in every one of the last six decades.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that Streisand's latest effort sold just under 200,000 copies at the end of last week, making her sums "the largest sales week for a female artist in 2014."
The album is also her 10th No. 1 record, which puts her in ties with Elvis Presley (who makes a posthumous appearance on Partners) and Bruce Springsteen –– both of whom have had 10 No. 1 albums.
Featuring the likes of John Mayer, Lionel Richie, Michael Bublé, Billy Joel, and more, Partners is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about albums of the year. Listen to some of it below:
THR states that the singer's first No. 1 album came way back in 1964, almost 50 years ago exactly: Oct. 31, 1964.
Around all of the discussion the album is causing, Streisand made a guest appearance on NBC's The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon just last Monday (Sept. 15) –– her first in over 50 years. While there, the performer acted as Fallon's only guest and delighted the in-studio and at-home viewers with some wonderful performances on top of a number of stellar stories.
