Jay Rock is prepping for his time in the TDE release spotlight. Today he put out the video for "Parental Advisory," the first single, which he debuted last month, off his forthcoming album. The video features the Watts (L.A.) rapper in front of a house while his crew works out in the front lawn. It also cuts to footage that takes viewers on a tour of the city including spots like Watts Towers and Nickerson Gardens. The treatment alternates between color and black and white.
"I'm out here in the outfield like a Dodger," he raps on the SmokeyGotBeatz-produced, Ali-mixed track. "Rare L.A. fitted, hit the wall then I rob ya / I'm in the projects giving' out diagnostics / For n***as I heard killin' and dyin' for high profits / I did it all, seen it all, know that / Far from your average, snapshotted and quote that."
Back in June, Top Dawg Entertainment boss Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith announced that Jay Rock would be the next on the label to release an album. Last week he released his second single "Pay For It" with help from Black Hippy labelmate Kendrick Lamar and Canadian singer Chantal.
In September Tech N9ne revealed that Rock had left his Strange Music imprint and is now exclusively signed to TDE.
Rock is expected to drop his album by the end of the year, though no details have been announced. The effort will follow up 2011's Follow Me Home, his debut studio album.
