Calvin Harris has another No. 1 record, as reported by Dancing Astronaut. His recent artist album Motion just hit No. 1 on the dance/electronic sales charts with 35,000 copies sold, sliding in ahead of Knife Party's debut artist album Abandon Ship, which leaked three weeks early on iTunes via Billboard. Harris's Motion unseated Disclosure's hit album Settle, which has been on the top of the dance/electronic albums charts for the past 75 weeks. This is Calvin Harris's second No. 1 on the dance/electronic album charts, following his 2012 effort 18 Months.
Harris's chart domination does not stop at albums. He has also topped the Billboard hot dance/electronic songs chart with his single "Blame" alongside U.K. singer John Newman. It is the 10th week that "Blame" has been in the charts since it was first released. It is Calvin Harris's third song currently in the top 10 via Billboard. He set records when he became the first artist to place three songs in the dance/electronic top 10 and has not relinquished his grip on the chart just yet, with "Blame," "Outside" featuring Ellie Goulding and "Summer."
According to Billboard, he joins Daft Punk, Avicii and Disclosure to lead both the song and album dance/electronic charts simultaneously.
Calvin Harris has been on a winning streak lately, riding the swell of Motion's success. He took home the best electronic artist honor at the MTV EMAs, despite being unable to perform due to a heart issue. His chart success continues with each passing week and it will not be surprising to see more tracks from the album find their way up to the top of the charts. With collaborations alongside the likes of Tinashe, Big Sean and Gwen Stefani yet to get their proper due in the pop world, this album still has plenty of legs in it on the radio and on the charts.
