The official cast for the upcoming winter season of VH1's Love & Hip Hop New York has finally been announced, and a lot of the regulars have decided to take a season off by leaving the network to add several new faces to the mix. Two who will be returning, though, are Yandy Smith and Mendeecees Harris. If you are a fan of the show, then you already know that Smith spent months fighting to get Harris out of jail after he was incarcerated in upstate New York.
Harris was finally released on $600,000 bail last April after being locked up for 15 months, and he is still facing trial based on charges that he allegedly helped to run a drug pipeline from New York City to the Rochester region. Smith may have come up with the money to get her man out, but their troubles are far from over. Add to that the fact that Smith is currently expecting their second child while also raising Harris's older son and you get the makings of an interesting storyline.
No doubt that is exactly what the show's producers were thinking when they signed these two on for another season. Money is clearly an issue with all of Harris's legal bills, so this will help him collect a nice chunk of cash. The Love & Hip Hop franchise so often ends up being about parties, thrown drinks and who is hooking up that Smith and Harris's real-life problems bring a sense of honest reality to the mix.
Will you be tuning in for the upcoming season? Are you glad Smith and Harris are returning to the show after staying fairly quiet for most of this past year? What are your thoughts on what appears to be a slam-dunk drug case against Harris? Comment below.
