It was basically the worst kept secret in music and the NFL, but now it's official: Katy Perry will be performing at the Super Bowl XLIX halftime show. Yesterday, in the middle of winning three trophies at the American Music Awards, Perry announced that she will be taking on the football field with a little help from glitter, kittens, bacon and tons of other "crazy" stuff.
Perry made the announcement during the Dallas Cowboys-New York Giants game, with an ominous Twitter post.
"My band is in the other room screaming at the TV (and each other) over this Cowboys-Giants game. Can't wait for February 1st..." she wrote before confirming the big news after months of leaked announcements and rumors.
She later linked to an official NFL press release and a promo wherein she's in a top-secret Halftime Show "Testing Facility."
"I've got some insane ideas this year. Like, what if we covered the stadium in glitter, but the glitter was edible?" she asked before hamming it up with some drumming technology, a unicorn (that should have been a pegasus). Sharks, fire, kittens, a time machine and an outfit that was cleverly obscured by a can of Pepsi.

Before the official confirmation, Perry was long rumored to be on the shortlist for possible Halftime Show performers, alongside Coldplay and Rihanna.
Katy Perry will perform at the Pepsi Super Bowl XLIX halftime show at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Arizona on Feb. 1, 2014. She will follow Bruno Mars, who took on last year's show with an unprecedented 115.3 million viewers.
