A popular Atlanta strip club DJ has been arrested for hiring his best friend to murder his wife. According to 11Alive, Andre Jason Pugh, known as DJ Awesome throughout the city and at Oynx adult entertainment venue, has been charged in a murder-for-hire plot. Pugh allegedly hired his childhood friend, Adrian Harley, to kill his wife and then make it look like an attempted robbery-gone-wrong.
Reports indicate the DJ's wife, Tiffany Jackson Pugh, was found dead on Nov. 23 in an upstairs bedroom of the couple's shared home. Investigators said it appeared that the 34-year-old woman had been shot in the face. A young child was found clinging to Pugh at the time her lifeless body was discovered.
Pugh and Harley have been charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder and burglary. Police indicated that the couple's marital problems and potential divorce may have been a motive in the murder.
Following his wife's death, Pugh is reported to have posted to his Facebook page saying, "Why did they take my wife?! My kids [sic] mom why?! Where did i go wrong?!"
As noted by Creative Loafing, some local websites are alleging a link between Pugh and the unsolved Jan. 2014 murder of well-known Onyx DJ Fernando "Nando" Barnes. Police have denied any connection at this time.
"We don't have any connection there," said East Point Police Major Russell Popham. "This seems to be strictly a domestic violence issue. It is sort of odd, obviously, but there's no connection [between Pugh and the murder of Barnes] that we have established or that we know of."
Barnes was shot and killed after returning to his Clayton County home after a night of work. He also worked at Atlanta's famed Magic City strip club. No arrests have been made in connection to his death.
