It's been a whirlwind year for Sam Smith, whose platinum-certified debut album In The Lonely Hour has been nominated for six Grammys this year. Although the album explores unrequited love and failed relationships, he is no longer in the "lonely hour" as he has recently started dating someone. According to an interview with The Sun, the UK crooner is dating an extra that he met on the set of his "Like I Can" video shoot.
"It's a surreal thing to be talking about because I haven't even confirmed with him that we're officially seeing each other," he told The Sun.
However, Smith promised fans they need not worry about him losing his emotional edge despite being in a new relationship.
"People need to realize I'm never going to be happy. The reason I do what I do is because I'm an artist who is always going to be blue about something," he explained. "I'm going to go fall in love with as many people as I can and get my heart broken."
In fact, the singer has already started working on some new music for his follow-up album.
In an interview with MTV, he detailed his plans for 2015, which include awards season and touring, and said that he has some ideas in the works.
"I'm just going to try to fall in love and make them dump me so I can write another record," Smith told them. "I always thought I would wait [to write new songs], because I've got a long time to go before I'm even going to think of releasing, but I've already started writing some songs and have some ideas and stuff."
We hope for his sake that Smith doesn't have to experience more heartbreak to write a good album because let's be honest, his voice would sound angelic singing just about anything.
