It sounds like that Iggy Azalea/Britney Spears collaboration is happening after all. Last month, Azalea responded to a follower who asked if she would ever consider working with the pop icon and the Australian rapper replied that she already did. Now, Ryan Seacrest is reporting that the pair's collaboration will be the lead single from Spears' next album and it is due in 2015.
Seacrest explained that the two ladies recorded more than one song, but the obvious choice was "undeniably great and fans are going to love it." Listen to the audio over at Billboard.
Spears dropped her most recent album last year in the form of Britney Jean. It hit number four on the Billboard chart with singles like "Work Bitch," "Perfume" and "Alien." Reviews of the album were mixed.
"Even though we're in the middle of a pop-princess pileup this winter, with Miley, Katy, Gaga and more elbowing for room on the dance floor, Britney remains the queen who out-bangs, out-booms, out-bizarres them all," Rob Sheffield wrote for Rolling Stone.
In September, Spears posted a picture of her working on new material in the studio.
Azalea is a hot commodity for collaborations as of late. She's appeared on tracks by Keyshia Cole, T.I. and Jennifer Hudson. Most notably, she worked with Jennifer Lopez and appeared in the video for "Booty." The rapper recently announced that she will be hitting the road in 2015 on The Great Escape tour. Her own new album is also in the works.
