Black Keys: Patrick Carney
"Tune into my new lifetime movie. 'Dislocated shoulder' airing right now," he posted.
It's an unfortunate injury for a drummer with the kind of workload that Carney has currently. Along with partner Dan Auerbach, Carney released Turn Blue in May, further cementing the duo as one of rock's premier acts. The record hit No. 1 on the Billboard 200 behind a slew of big singles like "Fever," "Bullet in the Brain" and "Gotta Get Away."
Rolling Stone gave the effort four and a half stars.
"That LP's crunchy mix of Sixties soul and Midwest-garage glam was a rightful breakthrough. Turn Blue is a genuine turning point - into a decisively original rock, with a deeper shade of blues. You still get the minimalist vigor of the Keys' first records a decade ago. But this is more brazen severity, richer and forward in its hip-hop allusions, super-size-rock dynamics, pictorial studio flourishes and offbeat commercial savvy," the magazine wrote.
Carney and Auerbach will perform at the 2015 MusiCares Person of the Year concert on Feb. 6. Artists like Eddie Vedder, Neil Young, Jack White, Willie Nelson and Beck will be on hand to pay tribute to Bob Dylan. The duo will then set out on a European tour.
