Aphex Twin, real name Richard D. James, just released his first album in 13 years last September and he's already gearing up for another multi-track release on Warp Records. The "Syro" producer will be releasing a 14-track EP titled Computer Controlled Acoustic Instruments Pt. 2. Announced via Warp Records today (Jan. 9), there is not much further information about the EP except the tracklist and that it will be released on Jan. 23. It still isn't clear what happened to Part 1, but that could come at some point. Aphex Twin has never been one to do things conventionally, just look at the track titles, so the first EP may never hit stores or just might be something for a later date.
Aphex Twin released his studio album Syro in September of 2014. It has been received incredibly well by critics and fans alike. He did not stop there with new music in 2014, releasing 21 modular synth songs for free.
James was recently interviewed by 25 of his colleagues including Nicholas Jaar, Richie Hawtin, Luciano and Skrillex who grilled him on where he thought dance music was heading, how we created his music and much more.
Check out the tracklist below via Warp Records and watch out for the EP on Jan. 23. For a taste of what might be to come, check out the below tune from Syro.
