Nicki Minaj is giving fans an inside look into her personal life and the process of recording her latest album, The Pinkprint, in an upcoming MTV documentary titled Nicki Minaj: My Time Again. Now a one-minute trailer has dropped that shows footage of her recent performances, rehearsals, and personal moments, including the MTV Video Music Awards, where a python bit a backup dancer during the rehearsal for her "Anaconda" performance as well as the wardrobe malfunction that occurred during her "Bang Bang" performance with Jessie J and Ariana Grande.
"I didn't know that this album would entail and emotional rollercoaster," Minaj admits in the trailer. "No one could prepare for this business. Until you are in it, you really can't wrap your brain around it. When I'm faced with crazy adversities, I turn on a switch that I didn't even know I had sometimes. Every human needs to push themselves to the point of breaking sometimes. If you never break you never how much pressure you can take."
Nicki Minaj: My Time Again is set to premiere Sunday, Jan. 18 at 10 p.m. on MTV and is a follow-up of sorts to the 2010 MTV movie Nicki Minaj: My Time Now, which focused on her ascent to stardom and the release of her debut album Pink Friday.
Minaj recently outlined some of her emotional journey in her Rolling Stone cover story.
"One of my goals was to give people a glimpse into my personal life," she told them about the album, "because it's something I've kept very private."
She goes into detail about her breakup with her Safaree Samuels, whom she dated for 11 years as well as the abortion she had as a teenager and how that decision "haunted me all my life."
The Pinkprint currently sits at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 behind Taylor Swift's 1989.
