You don't mess with a member of Fifth Harmony. And that's a lesson that The Vamps members Brad Simpson and James McVey had to learn the hard way. After giving a shocking and mildly offensive interview regarding his old relationship with 5H singer Lauren Jauregui, her fellow "Worth It" bandmates quickly came to her offense, proving that girl group girl power is still very well and alive in 2015.
Earlier this week, Simpson and McVey sat down for an interview with Australia's Take 40. In the middle of the Q&A, Simpson was asked about his rumored relationship with Jauregui, and that's when the can of worms was opened up wide.
"I was April to December," Simpson said to Take 40 (via MTV) - before McVey had to cut in with his own comment. "We all had a bit of a go."
The girls from 5H found out about the interview, and Jauregui's bandmates were not happy about what McVey was implying with his interview and Normani Kordei, Camila Cabello and Dinah Jane Hansen rushed to Jauregui's defense.
the nerve of you little boys . . how immature

the amount of sexism and immaturity is astounding. a man will treat a woman with respect and stick up for her when she's being disrespected

McVey later took his foot out of his mouth and cleared up his statement on Twitter, saying that he didn't mean "we all had a go" in that way.
Ouchieeeee. Totally misinterpreted there folks... I'm sorry if people have been offended. I was joking that we all think that... — James McVey (@TheVampsJames) January 22, 2015
The band were all attractive, and we tried to flirt at the start. I failed, clearly. I meant we all 'had a go' at flirting.

For her part, Jauregui kept things classy:
Anyhoo, I did see what you little rascals trended and I just want you to know I love you all verrrrrry much and it means a lot — Lauren Jauregui (@LaurenJauregui) January 23, 2015
So, what did we learn? Fifth Harmony will hit you like a "Sledgehammer," if it's for better or for worse.
