Skrillex Shares 'Groundhog Day'-Inspired "Doompy Poomp" Video [WATCH]

Skrillex has teamed with Vice's The Creators Project, known in the electronic music world for their work doing profiles on the Daft Punk Random Access Memories collaborators, to present his latest music video. The video revives possibly the least-heralded song "Doompy Poomp" from Sonny Moore's LP Recess in the manner one might expect Skrillex to do. Fittingly released on Groundhog Day, the 3 minute 18 second video celebrates the 1993 film starring Bill Murray, where the main character has the same life events happen to him over and over without fail.

Directed by Fleur & Manu, the video follows a man on his way to the bank as he gets denied for a loan over and over again, except each time comes with a different set of odd circumstances. He either comes in guns blazing and goes down in a Western-style shootout or shows up in just underwear after seeing everyone else wearing nothing in a previous iteration of the day. The mulleted man cannot seem to get it right and fails time after time no matter how hard he tries to bring himself up from what appears to be a pretty low station in life. Skrillex even gives a shout-out to Charlie Hebdo at the end.

"Doompy Poomp" was released as a free download about a year before the album was released. He unleashed it in collaboration with graphic designer Mishka through his website at the time, causing a stir among fans who did not expect to hear such a different sound from Moore.

Skrillex has shown an interest for videos with genuine human stories that may be a little odd or slightly twisted, and this one fits into that expansive mold.
