Slipknot Guitarist Mick Thomson Hospitalized after Knife Fight with Brother; Will No. 7 Be Able to Tour Next Month?

Slipknot guitarist Mick Thomson has been hospitalized, along with his brother, after the two men got into a drunken knife fight...just in case you thought you had finally convinced your mother that metal just had a bad image. Both men were listed as being in serious condition but are expected to recover from their injuries, according to Billboard.

"Mick update: from what I've heard he's okay," tweeted vocalist Corey Taylor yesterday. "We're sendig (sic) him all your thoughts. Thank you for that."

Police responded to a call at Thomson's home in Iowa where they found both men, apparently intoxicated and suffering from knife wounds (the guitarist had actually been stabbed in the head). Both men were rushed to the hospital but neither is in critical condition. Neither Slipknot nor the medical authorities working on the case have issued a statement regarding where the rest of Thomson's stab wounds occurred, so it can only be theorized whether the injuries will have any effect on "no. 7"s ability to tour with the group when it plays a series of festival dates in April and May, and sets out on the "Summer's Last Stand" tour with Lamb of God, Bullet for My Valentine and Motionless in White during July.

Hopefully this will all end up being an event that the Thomson brothers can laugh about in years to come but it certainly had to put the hair on edge for many Slipknot fans. The band dealt with the death of bassist Paul Grey during 2010 from overdose, an event that shook the group and inspired the name of .5: The Grey Chapter, the band's 2014 album that was its first since that incident.
