Jimmy Kimmel has done it again. The consummate prankster has brought his signature sketch, Lie Witness News, back down to SXSW to quiz people on the street about their knowledge on bands that don't exist. Of course to try and seem up on the times, the people go along with it and act like they know the fictional bands the questioner is talking about. Hilarity ensues.
The woman posing questions is relentless in her pursuit to make people look as dumb as possible, and she finds some pretty good suspects. One red head keeps on coming back for more including heading to Lyon, France to see DJ Fictionelle and hearing his track "Je Suis full of merde," meaning "I am full of sh*t."
She also claims to have seen the infamous Russian funk band Vlad and the Putins who rode into a performance on a horse shirtless.
Another clever one is DJ Cialis who gets the crowd rock hard and the host poses the question "is it dangerous if his set lasts longer than four hours?"
They also manage to find the highest individual in all of Austin who is a huge fan of "So Much Marijuana" and wants to legalize the drug in all "52 states."
One can question the validity of these segments, pointing to the reverb and the quality of the sound, but either way, these types of people exist out there and deserve a little ridicule.
SXSW is ripe for a segment like this now that it has been overrun with brands and parties in just about every house and open space in Austin. Watch the video via Jimmy Kimmel below.
