Music fans are already in a tizzy because of the Outkast reunion. Last week, it was announced that the "Hey Ya" hip-hop duo would be reuniting at Coachella for its 20th anniversary. And THEN, Outkast stated it would be performing at 40 music festivals this year as headliners. If that wasn't enough Andre 3000 and Big Boi for ya, get ready, because Outkast are reportedly working on a brand new album.
Yesterday, talk show host/actress/former rapper Queen Latifah appeared on Howard Stern's radio show and let the Outkast album news slip. "They're chillin... They're about to work on a new album," she said to Stern (via The Huffington Post).
And Queen Latifah would be in the know. She used to be the head of Outkast's former management company Flavor Unit and worked closely with the duo.
If Queen Latifah's words are to be believed, Outkast haven't hit the studio quite yet.
Besides, a new album would be a logical reunion step for Outkast. Coachella, the Governor's Ball and 38 other festival dates have to add up to something more, right?
The new effort would be Outkast's seventh studio album and its first record in eight years. Outkast's last record, Idlewild was released in 2006, spawning singles such as "Mighty O," "Morris Brown" and "Idlewild Blue."
