One of the largest festivals in the world, Glastonbury, has announced the first wave of artists on the 2015 lineup. As one of the oldest and proudest festival institutions in the UK and internationally, Glasto prides itself on getting some of finest acts in the world and this year, in the first wave of artists alone they have accomplished just that. The June festival will be headlined by the likes of the Foo Fighters, Kanye West, Florence + The Machine, Pharrell, Alt-J, Lionel Richie, deadmau5, The Chemical Brothers, Motörhead, Alabama Shakes, Mary J. Blige and many more.
The lineup includes acts from all across the world of music, new and old, with additions like Jamie xx, Run The Jewels, Caribou, FKA twigs, Mark Ronson, Jon Hopkins, Wolf Alice, Father John Misty, Ryan Adams, Rudimental, Years & Years, Jessie Ware, Charlie XCX, Young Fathers, Hozier, George Ezra and The Mothership Returns: George Clinton, Parliament Funkadelic & The Family Stone.
The festival sold out very quickly after tickets went on sale last year long before the lineup was announced because fans put their trust in organizers to put together a quality lineup.
This year's lineup has not been without controversy. The inclusion of Kanye West as a Pyramid Stage (the main stage) headliner, a slot traditionally reserved for rock acts, began a petition to remove him from the that eventually garnered well over 100,000 signees.
The first wave of acts should temper the fears of any Glastonbury fans and get them excited for the rain and music in June. The 5-day festival will take place from June 24-28. More acts will be announced soon, including some special guests who are high up on the lineup. See the full list of acts announced below.
