A few weeks ago, the Rolling Stones exposed an acoustic version of "Wild Horses," one of their most admired hits. An alternate rendition to another Stones staple, "Can't You Hear Me Knocking," features enthralling riffs and a more refined sound than the well-known, over-seven-minute jam session.
The 1971 sensation and one of the most revered albums, Sticky Fingers, will see a deluxe reissue that will feature further recording session outtakes and unreleased cuts that may or may not make an Internet appearance before its June 9 release. "Brown Sugar" featuring guitar legend Eric Clapton as well as an alternate take of "B-tch" can be expected on the impending reissue of the album ranked at 64 in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
Originally, the album had an earlier planned release date but due to a hiccup concerning album art, the date was pushed back. A similar issue occurred over 40 years ago when the zipper on the original album cover was considered to be a manufacturing nuisance.
When discussing the original rendition of "Can't You Hear Me Knockin," Keith Richards once revealed, "We didn't even know they were still taping," reports Rolling Stone. "We thought we'd finished. We were just rambling and they kept the tape rolling. I figured we'd just fade it off. It was only when we heard the playback that we realized, 'Oh, they kept it going.' Basically we realized we had two bits of music. There's the song and there's the jam."
Remaining absent from most live tours up to 2002, it's made an appearance in random shows and will most likely be performed on their May 2015 Zip Code Tour, set to kick off May 24 in Sand Diego. Rumors have been circulating that they'll perform Sticky Fingers in totality but seems to be just that, a rumor. Mick Jagger stated "It's got quite a few slow songs on it," notes Ultimate Classic Rock.
As far as releasing brand new songs, Jagger hasn't been shy to the idea of ending their 10 year dry spell although it seems no progress has been made. However, Richards will pursue his solo career, possibly releasing his solo album this year and maybe embarking on a coinciding tour.
