As the hip-hop world mourns the death of Chinx, the Coke Boys rapper's mentor Max B spoke on what he calls a "senseless tragedy" from New Jersey State Prison.
Max B spoke on the rapper's death in a brief call obtained by Revolt. He called Chinx a "young, inspiring brother" and detailed their close relationship.
"I don't know if people realize how close we was and sh*t. Like we all used to be in my crib, French, me, him ... I'd be with Chinx every day, Chinx used to spend the night at my joint," he said. "We used to be making music and sh*t. People really don't hear us on songs together because at the time he used to come stay in my spot, I was on trial, so I was goin' through my own sh*t, I was stressed out, I wasn't really making no music when I had started trial. So that's the only reason people don't hear us on songs together."
Max B was sentenced to 75 years in prison back in 2009 for his role in an armed robbery and kidnapping that led to a murder.
As previously reported, Chinx was killed in a drive-by shooting in Queens early Sunday. He was reportedly struck multiple times and his passenger was struck twice in the Porsche Chinx was driving at around 4 a.m. At least seven bullets pierced the front and driver-side windows according to the New York Daily News.
There has been speculation that the fatal shooting may be related to the 2007 shooting death of Stack Bundles.
"They were friends, Stack Bundles and Chinx. They were friends, so we're looking at all hip-hop angles," NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said Tuesday.
Chinx was signed to French Montana's Coke Boys imprint.
