Miranda Lambert - Automatic
Miranda Lambert's newest single is getting rave reviews from fans and critics alike while it reminds listeners that things were great back before the world became automatic, so if you're looking for cheatin' husbands in pickup trucks who drink too much beer and must be punished, look elsewhere.
Immersed in the nostalgia of yesteryear, "Automatic," from her upcoming 5th album, celebrates the days of pay phones, driving to the big city to buy a special dress, recording the country countdown on her cassette recorder because she couldn't afford to buy the tapes and more. On her website, she described it as being, about "slowing down, taking a breath and remembering what it’s like to live life a little more simply. It’s not about going back, but reminiscing about what it was like to hang laundry on the line and wait for it to dry and my dad teaching me how to drive my ’55 Chevy that I still have but don’t drive nearly enough. The song brings back good memories and it reminds me to take a deep breath and to remember that getting there is half the fun."
Remember the days of getting handwritten letters in the mail that you could cherish? Miranda does too and she celebrates those. Did your dad teach you to drive on a stick shift so you could eventually drive anything? Lambert was there too and remembers the moments fondly.
Hubby Blake Shelton loves the tune. He tweeted, "Lucky to be married to the girl... Proud to know the artist."
