When Dave Grohl was fourteen, he penned a letter to Minor Threat's Ian MacKaye in hopes of receiving the ultimate hook-up to Dischord Records. Giving back to his fans who hold the Foo Fighters frontman to the same esteem in which he held MacKaye, Grohl brought one fan and his impeccable painting onto the stage during the 02 World set in Hamburg.
The former Nirvana drummer set his sights on the fan upon noticing an elaborate painting of Grohl's face. Referring to the fan as "the crazy mother*cker with the picture," Grohl beckoned him onto the stage where the fan took control of the mic for an emotional, rock 'n' roll-empowered speech. Grohl let the fan preach to the audience before asking, "How about this, do you have a pen?" and "look, who's got a sharpie?" to sign the painting and directing the fan back stage.
"I just want to tell you guys, I've dreamed of this moment for a very, very long time," the fan said, reports Alternative Press. "I love this mother*cker, make some noise," the fan continued to say about Grohl.
Foo Fighters recently embarked on their UK and Ireland tour, kicking off a two and a half hour show at Sunderland's Stadium of Light, notes NME. During their May 27 show date in Manchester, Grohl brought an 8-year-old fan to the stage after noticing the young boy correctly singing along to "Times Like These."
"How old are you? You're 8 years old and you know Foo Fighters lyrics? I like you. This song goes out to you." Grohl said. "What's that? You want him to come onstage? Come on mother*ker." While Frankie mde his way to the sage, Grohl uttered, "You better bring your Dad with you. Oh yeah, bring your mama. I'm not taking care of you, that's for g*ddamn sure."
