In a unique approach to connect on another level with their fans, the trio of Thirty Seconds to Mars will launch a 3-day wilderness weekend from August 22 through August 24 called Camp Mars. They shared the idea with a teaser video inviting fans to the occasion.
Mars fanatics and outdoors enthusiasts alike can head to Malibu for a weekend camping trip chock-full of "hiking, climbing, yoga, cooking classes, raising the flag and camp fire sing-a-longs," the band said in a statement. As if that isn't reason enough to spend two nights and three days with Jared Leto, Shannon Leto and Tomo Miličević, S'mores will be graciously provided to guests.
Thirty Seconds to Mars will host two performances throughout the bonding experience along with DJ sets. Tickets and packages for Camp Mars go on sale Friday, June 19 at 9 a.m. via Adventures in Wonderland.
"We have always looked to do things for our audience that are fun and unique," Suicide Squad actor Jared Leto told Rolling Stone. "What better way to celebrate the summer than in beautiful Southern California with the Mars family in full."
The band joined the Carnivores tour, which kicked off in August, alongside Linkin Park and AFI for 25 North American gigs. In the fall, they jammed alongside the Foo Fighters, Arctic Monkeys and Outkast at New Orleans' Voodoo Music and Arts Experience.
Aside from his music ventures, Jared Leto is known for his crossover talents into the acting realm, having recently won his first Oscar in 2014 for his portrayal in Dallas Buyers Club. "[A] nice thing that's happened is there's been some clarity and some understanding and some reclamation of public image," Leto told Rolling Stone last May. "People have gotten to know me a little more rather than an idea they may have had of me. It's a fringe benefit, but it's also a really nice thing."
